Researcher to Reveal EPC’s Further Impact at Wal-Mart
At RFID Journal LIVE! 2006, which will be held in Las Vegas from May 1 to May 3, Bill Hardgrave, director of the University of Arkansas’s RFID Research Center and executive director of the Information Technology Research Institute (ITRI), will unveil additional results of a 29-week study into the impact Electronic Product Code (EPC) technologies have had on out-of-stocks at RFID-enabled Wal-Mart stores. Sirit to Unveil RFID Reader Platform
Sirit, a maker of radio frequency identification interrogators (readers), has purchased the technology and assets of SAMSys Technologies, which went bankrupt. Sirit will unveil at RFID Journal LIVE! a new architecture for interrogators, which was developed by SAMSys, and the first interrogator based on that infrastructure. This architecture will enable the company to create products for original equipment manufacturers and itself, and to expedite bringing them to market. More information
RFID Journal to Host Academic Event
Feb. 13, 2006RFID Journal announced today that the second RFID Academic Convocation will be held in conjunction with RFID Journal LIVE! 2006 on May 1, at the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas. Academics from around the world will present research papers vetted by a conference committee organizing the event. Those registering for RFID Journal LIVE! can attend by choosing the convocation as part of the deluxe conference package. Proceeds from the event will be used to fund future academic conferences. Fast-Track Certification Training Available at RFID Journal LIVE!
Feb. 8, 2006RFID Journal announced today that it has partnered with RFID4U to offer CompTIA RFID+ certification training during RFID Journal LIVE! 2006. The conference will be held May 1 to May 3 in Las Vegas. The fast-track course, scheduled for the first day of the show (May 1), provides one day of intensive, instructor-led training using state-of-the-art RFID equipment. Attendees who complete the course can then take the RFID+ certification exam on either May 2 or 3, or they can opt for a voucher allowing them to take it at a later date. More information.
Mike Sullivan Memorial Golf Tournament to Be Held at RFID Journal LIVE!
Jan. 30, 2006On Sunday, April 30, RFID Journal will host the second Mike Sullivan Memorial Golf Tournament at the Silverstone Golf Club in Las Vegas, as part of RFID Journal LIVE! 2006, the fourth annual conference and exhibition of RFID Journal. Mike Sullivan worked on Gillette's RFID efforts and was active in EPCglobal's standardization efforts. He passed away suddenly in 2005 from a heart attack, and his friends and colleagues chose to honor his memory by creating the Mike Sullivan Memorial Scholarship, holding a golf tournament to raise money for a scholarship fund under the Boston Scholars Program. All proceeds from the golf tournament will go to the scholarship fund. More information.
