Marlin Mickle first joined the RFID department at the University of Pittsburg in 1962 where he became the Graduate Program Coordinator and later took on the role of Director of the Computer Engineering Program. Currently, he is the Director for the Center for Motion Control Research. Professor Mickle was the 1988 recipient of the Systems Research and Cybernetics Award of the International Institute for Advanced Studies in Systems Research and Cybernetics and earned a place on the Faculty Honor Roll in 2001. He is a Life Fellow of the IEEE.

Professor Mickle research area include wireless networks, RF devices, energy harvesting, and single chip RF devices. He received his Ph.D., M.S.E.E., and B.S.E.E. from the University of Pittsburgh.
