Carla Powe

Carla M. Powe is Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Lockheed Martin's Integrated Systems & Solutions business area. IS&S leads the Corporation's systems engineering and integration activities for high-value net-centric information and intelligence systems that support mission of the U.S. Department of Defense and other national security customers. Headquartered in Gaithersburg, Maryland, Lockheed Martin IS&S has additional major locations in Northern Virginia, Pennsylvania, Arizona, California, Colorado and Nebraska. IS&S employs nearly 16,000 experienced professionals and has annual sales of approximately $4 billion. (* See below note.)

As VP and CIO, Ms. Powe is responsible for overseeing the IS&S information technology infrastructure and for the development and implementation of an Information Technology Strategic Plan to enable IS&S to meet its strategic goals. Ms. Powe leads a virtual organization of 500 professionals providing enterprise applications, infrastructure engineering, infrastructure service delivery, disaster recovery and information security operations and collaborative tools integral to business operations. Her organization also implements new technologies that advance the business and add value through integration and collaboration tools.

Ms. Powe has over 29 years of service with Lockheed Martin. She began her career with IBM Federal Systems in Manassas, VA, as a Marketing Representative, working primarily with US Navy Submarine Combat Systems organizations. She also worked within the Program Management staff on USN programs and became a PM in Undersea Surveillance Systems. At IBM/Loral, Ms. Powe had a number of increasingly responsible Program Management assignments, and then led several successful proposal teams. The most significant of these involved the orchestration of a major new business capture effort for a constructive simulation project for the US Army, which led to her transfer to Orlando, FL to lead the program. While with LM Simulation, Training, and Support in Orlando, Ms. Powe was responsible for constructive simulation and live training programs for both DoD and international clients.

Ms. Powe transferred to IS&S in January 2004 to lead a new Focused Logistics organization, where she was responsible for a portfolio of logistics and information technology programs that served customers from the US Navy/NAVAIR, Defense Logistics Agency, and United States Transportation Command. Ms. Powe was named to her current position in May, 2006.

A native of Pennsylvania, Ms. Powe is a graduate of The University of Pittsburgh, earning both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Business Administration from the Katz Graduate School of Business. She is a member of the National Defense Transportation Association and the Association of the US Army. She is active in the Lockheed Martin IS&S Women's Network, and devotes significant time and energy to mentoring female and minority employees.

Ms. Powe and her husband, Carl, reside in Oakton, VA.
