Mark Powell

Mark Powell is the Director of Technology Center 2600, Telecommunications, U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). In this role, he leads international cooperative activities with patent offices in Europe, Japan, Australia, and elsewhere. Mr. Powell joined USPTO in 1986, serving as Patent Examiner and Supervisory Patent Examiner. Before joining USPTO, he developed intellectual property programs and guidelines for the Bureau of Nonproliferation at the Department of State. He has also been involved with assisting the Department of State with redirecting efforts of former Soviet Union weapons centers toward peaceful, commercial purposes. Mr. Powell holds a BSEE.
