John Williams

In his current position at the Intelligent Engineering Systems Laboratory at MIT, John R. Williams teaches information technology for engineering and software design methodology. He has been director of the lab since 1991. Dr. Williams specializes in computer aided engineering using wavelet and discrete element analysis. He is presently active in the application of wavelet techniques to solution of equations and image analysis. His teaching interests are in design and he is responsible for the ARPA/NSF Design Studio of the Future Project. Dr. Williams has published over 50 technical papers and is the author of two books on discrete element techniques. He presently holds the Winslow Chair for career development and the Leaders for Manufacturing Junior Research Chair for simulation research.
