Aerospace/Defense

The U.S. Department of Defense, as well as airplane manufacturers Boeing and Airbus, have deployed RFID systems to improve their supply chains and operations. This track focuses on the benefits they are achieving, and how their suppliers are meeting tagging mandates and achieving benefits, both internally and across their supply chains.

What You Will Learn From This Track:

• Best practices for using RFID for inventory tracking
• How to improve safety at a secure worksite
• How to use automatic data-capture technologies to build trust in supply chain operations
• Insights into how the DOD is benefiting from radio frequency identification
• Insights into the latest projects under the DOD’s Radio Frequency In-Transit Visibility system
• An understanding of the operational value that asset visibility provides
• An understanding of the USAF's enterprise approach to automated identification and data capture (AIDC)
• How RFID is being utilized to improve the overall efficiency and productivity of the USAF supply chain
• How RFID can be used to support the military supply chain, from equipment monitoring to tracking surgical stints that can be implanted in patients

Tracking Assets on the Launch Pad
Even a small tool left on the launch pad at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center could potentially damage a spacecraft during liftoff and jeopardize a mission. To prevent tools from being left behind by workers, Boeing has employed a real-time location system. Hear how this reduces the amount of time workers spend inventorying tools by enabling them to search for a specific tool, or to perform an inventory of all tagged items at the facility, quickly and cost effectively-reducing labor costs and increasing flight safety.
Speaker:
Philip Lintereur, Boeing Fluids, Avonics and Propulsion Systems Manager, Boeing
Takeaways:
• Best practices for using RFID for inventory tracking
• How to improve safety at a secure worksite
