This seminar has been our most popular preconference offering for six years. RFID Journal University is designed to provide those new to radio frequency identification with the foundational knowledge needed to begin understanding how RFID can be applied to solve specific business problems, to choose the right option for a specific application and to select the proper vendors to achieve a successful outcome.
RFID in Health Care
Hospitals worldwide are achieving real benefits from employing RFID technology to:
Improve patient monitoring and safety
This one-day preconference seminar will introduce participants to RFID applications in health care. Presenters will explain the business case, ROI and impact of RFID in the health-care environment. Learn how to cut costs and improve patient outcomes.
RFID in the Food Chain
This preconference seminar is designed to educate growers, distributors and producers of food and food products, as well as systems integrators and other implementers, regarding the benefits of using RFID to track the location and monitor the temperature of food as it moves through the supply chain. The seminar will explain the current state of RFID technology, and reveal how your organization can deploy the technology to achieve such benefits today.
RFID for IT Professionals
RFID systems are not just another data-input source for a business' back-end systems. For companies to get the most value from an RFID investment, it's essential to have a robust software architecture for capturing data and turning it into information that can be used by business applicationsin a way that provides for changing technology and business requirements. This seminar will explain how to build a complete software architecture, including the structure of RFID-based visibility data that enterprise applications consume, the data-capture software that creates this information, and the various architecture and product choices an IT architect faces in building and deploying a successful system.
RFID in Government
This one-day preconference seminar is designed specifically for municipal, state and federal government agencies looking to understand how they can employ RFID within their operations to reduce costs and to offer better services. The seminar will provide the security and privacy information agencies need to understand before introducing any RFID applications that might affect consumers or businesses.
RFID in Warehouse and Inventory Management
This one-day preconference seminar will introduce participants to RFID applications in inventory and warehouse management. Presented by Academia RFID, the course will present practical examples of how radio frequency identification realistically enables inventory-management best practices. Participants will learn how to quantify savings and benefits by RFID-enabling warehouse- and inventory-management operations, and presenters will explain how to build a working RFI
RFID in Oil & Gas
The RFID in Oil & Gas preconference seminar is co-hosted by the Oil & Gas RFID Solution Group. The group, comprising petroleum, petrochemical and services companies, as well as RFID vendors and universities, is driving industry adoption, education and standards development regarding RFID-based systems within the petroleum and petrochemical market space. This seminar will examine the use of radio frequency identification in the upstream, midstream and downstream of the petroleum sector. Topics will cover various types of RFID technologies, including passive ultrahigh-frequency (UHF), passive high-frequency (HF), Rubee LWID, 802.11x, ZigBee, active UHF and many others. The presenter will also discuss a variety of application areas, such as laydown yards, production facilities, service centers, oil rigs, refineries, pipelines and more. Speakers will focus on end-user case studies and the benefits RFID could provide to chemical, gas and oil firms, as well as the challenges that must be overcome to achieve such benefits. The Oil & Gas RFID Solution Group will issue a certificate at the completion of the course.
RFID in Construction
RFID can play a key role in helping companies manage the inventory of materials arriving on a construction site, as well as reduce theft and improve the management of tools and other critical assets. This preconference seminar will share how end users are using RFID today. Additional presentations will explain the role of RFID in various applications, as well as which types of systems are most applicable, and how businesses can begin employing the technology on their construction sites.
How to Sell RFID Technology to Big Companies
The market for RFID products and services is currently dominated by large companies, and it has never been tougher to get appointments with corporate decision makers. It's nearly impossible to catch anyone on the phone these days—and even when you do, very few companies are investing in new technologies. Yet, some salespeople have learned how to capture a decision maker's attention in today's crazy corporate environment. This preconference seminar will feature a three-hour workshop by author Jill Konrath, one of the world's leading experts on selling to big companies.
