RFID in Manufacturing
11:00 AM
Welcome and Introduction
11:05 AM
Developing an RFID Strategy for Manufacturing
RFID can deliver a great deal of benefits to manufacturers in many different areas, but without coherent strategies, companies often wind up deploying the technology piecemeal, only to find that it fails to meet their longer-term needs. This session will explain how to create a long-term strategy that can enable businesses to choose technologies that will best meet their ongoing needs across a wide variety of applications, as well as how to prioritize projects in the near term.
11:40 AM
Improving Workflow at Manufacturing Facility With RFID
A manufacturer of tires is utilizing Wi-Fi-based tags to locate components for its 500,000-square-foot passenger car and light truck (PLT) tire-assembly plant, reducing the amount of time workers spend searching for parts and ensuring that they are used before expiring. Previously, the firm deployed the system to help reduce the time its staff spent searching for containers filled with components needed for tire assembly, and to decrease the amount of waste by providing alerts when parts need to be used before becoming too old. Learn how the system helps the factory maintain an optimal level of material and component inventory on the shop floor, by providing visibility into when part stock is running low.
12:10 PM
Choosing the Right RFID Technology for Manufacturing
Manufacturers are using RFID technology for a wide array of applications, including tracking parts bins, returnable transport containers, tools, work-in-process, finished goods inventory and much more. Choosing the right RFID system for each application, while building out an infrastructure for tracking and better managing other assets, requires a clearly thought-out strategy. This session outlines the steps manufacturers need to take in order to choose the right technology for today—and for tomorrow.
