RFID Journal LIVE! 2007 features nine preconference seminars providing in-depth information on specific aspects of RFID. Attendees can choose to participate in one of these prior to the opening of the main conference program. Preconference seminars are available through the Conference + Preconference Pass or the Preconference Seminar + Exhibit-Only Pass.

The availability and use of industry-driven standards for EPC/RFID that address the specific needs of the chemical industry community is critical.  This seminar will engage industry leaders to examine key business issues that can be addressed with EPC/RFID implementations. While the nature of the topics discussed will involve technology, this seminar will focus upon the business opportunities, priorities and challenges of implementing EPC/RFID technology specific to chemical companies.

1:15 pm Enhancing Safety in the Chemical Supply Chain
Explore the uses of real time RFID based visibility events to improve the traceability of chemical products in the supply chain. This session will also touch on best practices for using RFID to comply with environmental safety regulations here in North America and Europe (WEE, RoHS, REACH)
2:00 pm CIDX Incorporating RFID into Chemical Industry Data Exchange
The CIDX authored white paper outlines the business, data, process and technology implications of RFID and the Electronic Product Code (EPC) on the chemical industry This session provides recommendations for areas that require industry-level agreements and collaboration so that the full value potential is realized.

3:15 pm Active RFID in Container Tracking
Learn about Dow’s use of active RFID and GPS technologies for enhancing inventory visibility and security of their in-transit products.
4:15 pm The EPCglobal Transportation and Logistics Pilot
The work of the EPCglobal Community to encourage the use of standards with RFID/EPC technology will help trading partners get the most out of RFID and EPC. This session will identify the goals of the 2 phases of this project to demonstrate how organizations across a global supply chain can exchange real time event data to gain critical visibility.
