RFID is already delivering significant benefits to many organizations around the world, especially in the area of supply chain. To attain the full benefits of RFID-enabled technology, companies need to understand how RFID can be used to improve the production process, increase visibility, cut labor costs, reduce theft and track inventory, as well as transform the supply chain. This track will focus on six case studies that demonstrate how each firm successfully attained a return on its investment in RFID technology, by constructing and implementing a realistic business case.
Enhancing Visibility and Traceability
RFID is the only automatic-identification technology that is truly automatic. It can, therefore, collect data at a far lower cost than bar codes and other systems, thereby providing an unprecedented level of product visibility and traceability. This track will focus on how companies are deploying visibility and traceability, as well as the benefits visibility provides.
Improving Supply Chain Logistics
Leading-edge firms are improving their supply chains and logistics operations, including warehouse management, by taking advantage of the greater visibility that RFID data provides. In this track, hear from some companies that have successfully deployed RFID-based systems, and learn about their best practices.
Technology and Infrastructure
RFID is a technology that provides wireless identification of individuals and assets. Working in conjunction with an organization's information technology (IT) infrastructure, RFID-enabled solutions can be used to improve such business processes as inventory management and visibility into an enterprise's information systems. This conference track will take an in-depth look at the elements of an RFID infrastructure, including tags and readers, as well as the roles they play. Track sessions will demonstrate how radio frequency identification is being used effectively, and provide details regarding case studies and ongoing projects at various organizations.
