Presented in
partnership with:
The environment within and surrounding a facility affects how efficiently readers can interrogate tags. This makes each facility unique. Each has conditions that must be addressed to ensure an RFID system works consistently and delivers the information required to achieve business benefits. This instructor-led workshop, presented by RFID4U, will explain how readers and tags communicate, and how RF waves are reflected, scattered and absorbed, providing attendees with knowledge enabling them to deploy a successful RFID system. In this workshop, you will gain an understanding of signal modulation, noise, link budget, read range and anti-collision algorithms.

Introduction and Overview

Chris Zeisel, Solutions Architect, RFID4U

2:15 PM

RF Basics for UHF RFID Systems
This session will explain the concepts of signal modulation, backscatter and link budgets, as well as the behavior of RF waves in the UHF spectrum. Learn how environmental conditions, including the presence of water and metal, impact system performance. And find out how to mitigate factors that negatively impact RFID systems.

Greg Johnson, Sr. Instructor, RFID4U

3:45 PM

UHF RFID Readers and Antennas
This session will cover the components of an RFID system, including transmitters and receivers. Learn the importance of antenna gain and polarization, and how these affect system performance. In addition, discover how near- and far-field antennas work, and how these can be used to capture the data you want to collect for a particular application.

Greg Johnson, Sr. Instructor, RFID4U

4:45 PM

UHF RFID Tags and Antennas
Learn about the different type of UHF tag ICs and how they are packaged, as well as the importance of tag antenna design and how it affects performance.

Greg Johnson, Sr. Instructor, RFID4U
