| Josef Preishuber-Pflügl is the CTO and business unit manager of RFID and RF communications at CISC Semiconductor. He joined the company in 2003, initially working with 125-kHz reader concepts. Preishuber-Pflügl got involved in RFID in 1995, writing his Master's thesis on the technology upon graduating from the Graz University of Technology in Austria with a degree in telecommunications and informatics. He worked in several areas of RFID engineering and product management for systems-design, reader and tag development, covering all frequencies of passive RFID (125 kHz, 13.56 MHz, UHF and 2.45 GHz) at Philips Semiconductors in Gratkorn, Austria. He eventually left Philips and joined CISC Semiconductor GmbH. Since 2000, Preishuber-Pflügl has been involved in the standardization of RFID for item management in ISO/IEC JTC1 SC31. He has been a contributor to the ISO 18000 series and is project editor of ISOIEC 18000-4 and ISO/IEC 18000-6.
